On August 5, 1991, in Laval, Quebec, Mr. Charron disarmed a man threatening a taxi driver. After being hit from behind by a taxi in which the passengers seemed very agitated, Mr. Charron went over to the vehicle, opened a door halfway and found the two persons inside fighting. When the driver warned him that the assailant was carrying a gun which was hidden from view, Mr. Charron slammed the door shut. In response to the taxi driver's pleas, Mr. Charron reopened the door, grabbed the assailant's hand, immobilized him and wrenched the gun from his grasp. The aggressor was then taken into police custody.
