On March 10, 1989, Mr. Perozak rescued a fellow traveller from the wreckage of a plane that crashed at Dryden, Ontario. Thrown from the aircraft, yet still belted into his seat and covered by debris, Mr. Perozak managed to free himself. Although flames were closing in, he cleared away debris burying a friend trapped in the fuselage. Ignoring the man's exhortations to leave, Mr. Perozak struggled for several minutes and was finally able to wrest him from the wreckage.
