On January 3, 1990 Mr. Ronald Lewis Hatfield rescued two men from the cold waters at Christie's Cove, near West Baccaro, Nova Scotia. From inside a local gathering place, Mr. Hatfield had been watching the two men hunting sea ducks from their boat anchored a few hundred yards offshore. When he noticed they did not return to their anchor following a shoot, he ran to the shore to see the hunters clinging to their capsized vessel. Mr. Hatfield immediately went out in his own boat, manoeuvring through the rough waters until the men could jump aboard, and then brought them back to safety.
