Messrs. Srigley and Snudden risked their lives in attempting to save three occupants of a burning house in Pontypool, Ontario, on April 24, 1993. Volunteer firefighters, the two men searched the livingroom, which was completely engulfed with smoke and flames, and then went upstairs to look for the residents. The heat became so intense that it began to melt their equipment. Unable to find anyone inside, they made their way out through the heavy smoke, sustaining second degree burns. Unknown to them, the three occupants had escaped the burning building moments earlier.
