Shortly after midnight on August 29, 1992, Messrs. McNeill and Robinson attempted to save the lives of two men whose car had crashed into the side of Mr. Robinson's bus on the Patricia Bay Highway in Saanich, British Columbia. After ensuring that his passengers were safe, Mr. Robinson raced to the burning car, along with Mr. McNeill, an off-duty firefighter who lived nearby. Despite warnings by onlookers that the car would explode, the two men reached inside the flaming vehicle and pulled the unconscious passenger out through the window, but could not free the driver. Tragically, neither victim survived.
