Arms of Steven William MackisonBlazonPer chevron rayonné Or and Azure issuant from the base a sun in splendour Or, on a chief Azure a lion passant Or; SymbolismThe arms are inspired in part by arms borne by people named Mackay and Mackie, names from which Mackison is derived. The "per chevron" division is based on the chevron in Mackay arms, and the sun in the base makes a canting reference to the relationship of the names – it is essentially a "Mackie-sun". The lion at the top of the shield is taken from the Mackie arms. |
CrestBlazonA demi sun in splendour Azure charged with a lion passant Or; SymbolismThe crest repeats the two main charges and the colours of the arms. |
MottoBlazonLUCEAT LUX; SymbolismThis Latin phrase means "Let your light shine" and it is from the Sermon on the Mount, related in Matthew 5:16. It not only makes a reference to the sun in the arms and crest, but it also serves as a call to Christian discipleship, something particularly important for Fr. Mackison. |
