Badge of the Ottawa-Carleton Regional Police ServiceBlazonThe Shield of Arms of the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton within an annulus Azure fimbriated and inscribed in letters Or COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMUNAUTAIRE all within a wreath of maple leaves also Or issuant from a trillium flower proper the whole resting upon interlaced scrolls Azure fimbriated and inscribed OTTAWA-CARLETON POLICE in letters Or and ensigned with a representation of the Royal Crown proper; SymbolismThe design follows the standard pattern for a Canadian municipal police service badge. The shield at the centre is that of the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton as adopted in 1973. It refers to the confluence of the Ottawa and Rideau rivers and the fact that Ottawa is the capital of Canada. The Service’s motto is COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMUNAUTAIRE. The Royal Crown on the top of the badge symbolizes the fact that the Service enforces the Crown’s laws, while the maple leaves and trillium flower are references to Canada and Ontario. |
