Arms of Jacques ThouinBlazonOr on a chevron Azure between in dexter chief three mullets of six points rayonné two and one, in sinister chief a boar's head erased Sable, and in base a maple leaf Gules, three fleurs-de-lis Or; SymbolismThe blue and gold are a reference to the historic colours of the House of Bourbon. The chevron alludes to both the O'Moran family (Mr. Thouin's side) and the von Werne family (Mrs. Thouin's mother's side). The constellation of three stars is an O'Moran symbol of very long standing, and the wild boar, a symbol of courage and determination, has an equally long association as a von Werne family emblem. The stars also allude to the motto. The fleurs-de-lis refer to Quebec, where the Thouin name has been documented since 1634. In the base, the maple leaf of Canada represents Mr. Thouin's citizenship. |
CrestBlazonA bear rampant Sable holding in the dexter paw a maple leaf Gules between a vol per pale Sable and Argent; SymbolismThe bear represents strength and cunning and has many shared personal and cultural connotation for Mr. and Mrs. Thouin. The maple leaf is a further reference to Canada and a link to the symbolism of the shield. The wings are taken from the traditional von Werne arms, and are a particular feature of German heraldry. |
MottoBlazonLUCENT IN TENEBRIS; SymbolismA traditional motto of the O'Morans, and means "They shine in the darkness". |
