Blazon

Per saltire in chief and in base per pale Vert and Azure, in the flanks Gules, a bendlet, a pallet and a bendlet sinister interlaced with a rope tied in base with a reef knot Argent;

Symbolism

The colours allude to the military service of Mr. Schriner’s family: blue for his parents’ and brother’s services in the air force, green for his own career in the Canadian Army (as well as his love of the outdoors) and dark red for his work in the Royal Canadian Medical Service, the flag of which uses dark red and green. The three stripes represent bandages to refer to his career as a paramedic, and their position alludes to the paramedic star of life. The knotted rope is taken from the World Scout emblem, representing Mr. Schriner’s decades of service to scouting.
