Symbolism
Green, blue and gold represent Mr. Royal’s love of nature, particularly forests, bodies of water and the sun. The fox tail symbolizes Mr. Royal’s resourcefulness and entrepreneurial spirit. The three blue sections represent the three canals that flow through the region around Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec, where he was born and still lives, and where his ancestors settled. The wavy line evokes the bollards (mooring posts) that line the docks of those canals.
