Symbolism

The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The Christogram with three nails on a white disc surrounded by yellow rays is the symbol of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), which founded the school. The sword is the attribute of St. Paul, being the instrument of his martyrdom. The books and Greek letters refer to the school’s role as a place of learning. Alpha and omega, the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, are Christian symbols referring to God’s statement in the Book of Revelation that He is the beginning and the end; here they thus allude to the school’s Christian identity. The red cross on white is possibly taken from the arms of Manitoba. The maple leaf refers to the school’s Canadian identity.

Crest

Blazon

A helmet proper lined Gules in front of a stalk of wheat Or and a sword Gules in saltire;

Symbolism

The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The sword repeats the symbolism of the Arms. The helmet likely alludes to the Jesuits’ colloquial title of “Soldiers of Christ.” The stalk of wheat represents the school’s location in Manitoba.

Motto

Blazon

SICUT MILES CHRISTI;

Symbolism

This Latin expression means “Like a soldier of Christ.” This echoes the symbolism of the helmet in the Crest.
