Blazon

Lozengy Argent and Vert, charged alternately with pellets and plates on a chief Vert a canoe Or;

Symbolism

The green indicates Mr. Conacher’s love of the outdoors and the fame his grandfather, Lionel P. Conacher (1901-1954), achieved on sporting fields. Its dark shade refers to Mr. Conacher’s undergraduate university, Dartmouth College, New Hampshire. The diamond shapes of the pattern were inspired in part by a baseball diamond, reflecting one of the many sports played by Lionel P. Conacher, who is considered by many to have been Canada’s greatest all-round athlete. Other sports of his are also reflected in the composition: the black disc on white can represent a hockey puck on ice, and shot from a shotgun. The white disc can represent a lacrosse ball, a baseball, and also a silver coin to refer to the present Mr. Conacher’s career in the financial sector. The canoe reinforces the idea of his love of the outdoors, especially his cottage in Georgian Bay, as well as his work for the Canadian Canoe Museum.
