Symbolism

The red field and half-yellow, half-white lions are traditional elements of the coats of arms of O’Brien families, the maiden name of Mary Carroll Guerin, Mr. Guerin’s mother. The grant specifies that these arms were to be used in memory of Mary Carroll Guerin and would be borne by her descendants.
