The Canadian Heraldic Authority does not have confirmed symbolism for this emblem. The following comments are hypotheses only. The crossed swords possibly indicate Mr. Wakefield’s service as an army officer. During the Second World War he was a lieutenant of the 57th Newfoundland Heavy Regiment.
