Badge of the 5th Canadian Division Support GroupBlazonMurrey a blockhouse, in chief a moose’s head caboshed proper attired Argent, within the Support Group Badge Frame (An annulus Or inscribed SUPPORT GROUP • GROUPE DE SOUTIEN in letters Sable, charged in base with a torteau bordered and set with the group’s number Or, ensigned by the Royal Crown proper, environed by nine points surmounting a wreath of maple leaves Or, and above a scroll proper inscribed with the Motto in letters Sable); SymbolismDark red is the colour of the 5th Canadian Division. The blockhouse is a distinctive historical military structure found within every province of Atlantic Canada. The moose symbolizes the wildlife of the area in which CFB Gagetown, the headquarters of the Support Group, is located. The blockhouse, moose head and motto are taken from the badge of the 3 Area Support Group, the predecessor unit. |
