The blue chief and its wavy line, a reference to water, alludes to the Scots meaning of Lennox, “field of the smooth stream”. The sea serpent, often used on maps to denote unexplored waters, symbolizes exploration. The bull’s head refers to Mr. Lennox’s ancestor, John Bull, who changed his name to William Lennox c. 1877. |
