Arms of Carly Koren ChunickBlazonPer fess dancetty Azure and Or, in chief two garbs Or in base a crow Sable; SymbolismBlue and gold are the colours of the arms and flag of Ukraine, thus indicating Ms. Chunick’s ancestry. The jagged, or “dancetty”, division lines allude to movement, and, by its heraldic term, to dance, and therefore to Ms. Chunick’s longstanding interest in various forms of dance. The sheaves of wheat represent her upbringing in the Canadian prairie provinces. The crow is a symbol of the kingdom of Galicia within the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the home of Ms. Chunick’s ancestors. It also alludes to her residence on the west coast of British Columbia, where the crow is culturally significant. |
MottoBlazonБАЖАННЯ ПРАВДИ У ДУШІ; SymbolismThis Ukrainian phrase, meaning “The desire for truth in the soul”, is taken from a poem by Ivan Franko. |
