Arms of the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling ClubBlazonArgent on a pile reversed engrailed Vert a cricket wicket Or charged with a rose Argent barbed and seeded proper, on a chief wavy Azure an ice skate blade winged and a curling rock Argent; SymbolismThe design has been in use since 1958. The colours allude to the different types of sporting venues at the club: blue for the water of the pool, white for the ice of skating rinks and curling sheets, and green for the grass of cricket pitches. The cricket wicket, the old-fashioned skate blade and the curling rock refer to the three main sports of the three clubs that amalgamated in 1957 to form the current club. The white rose is traditionally associated with York, and thus refers to the founding of the original club in the Town of York (which subsequently became the City of Toronto) in 1827. |
