Azure an eagle displayed holding in the dexter claw a scroll bound to its leg and in the sinister claw a snake Or;

Symbolism

The eagle with its open wings and firm grasp is for Mr. Guité a symbol of protection. The scroll represents his profession as a historian, and his commitment to the profession is indicated by the strap linking the scroll to the eagle. The snake represents wisdom and enlightenment and also refers to his volunteer work teaching philosophy.

Symbolism

For Mr. Guité, the sun represents a positive energy and therefore universal goodness. It expresses that we all tend towards doing the right thing. The circle of roses, shamrocks and fleurs-de-lis reflects his English, Irish and French origins.
