Blazon

Azure on a cross moline Argent irradiated Or a cogwheel Gules, on a chief Or a maple leaf proper between two fleurs-de-lis Azure;

Symbolism

The fleurs-de-lis are taken from the arms of the province of Quebec and the maple leaf from the arms of Canada. The green of the maple leaf alludes to the goal of the founder of Montréal-Est, Joseph Versailles, to make it a garden city. The white cross symbolizes the city’s temporal and spiritual prosperity. The anchor-like ends of the cross represent the seaport; the gear wheel symbolizes mechanized industries; and the flames represent the cement and oil industries within the city. The arms may be ensigned by a mural crown, which represents civic authority.

Motto

Blazon

PEUX CE QUE VEUX;

Symbolism

Meaning “Where there’s a will, there’s a way”, the motto emphasizes that humanity’s progress in a wide range of activities becomes more virtuous in proportion to its good intentions.
