Blazon

Per chevron Azure and Argent, in chief two snow geese ascendant proper, in base a chevronel Azure;

Symbolism

Blue and white are the colours of the Quebec flag. As migratory birds, the two snow geese represent the journey undertaken by the ancestors Jean Soucy dit la Vigne and Jeanne Savonnet, who settled on Isle-aux-Oyes in the Montmagny Archipelago in New France in 1671. They symbolize the ingenuity, perseverance, endurance, and determination of the Soucy ancestors. The lower part of the shield represents the Isle-aux-Oyes and the Isle-aux-Grues, the two islands where the Soucy family successively made their home, divided by the St. Lawrence River, here represented by the blue chevronel.

Crest

Blazon

Issuant from a coronet flory Gules charged with fountains, a demi-lion guardant Or holding in its dexter paw an open book Argent bound Azure;

Symbolism

The lion and the crown refer to the Duchy of Normandy, homeland of the Soucys. The fountains on the crown represent the four children born in New France to the first Soucy couple, namely Anne, Pierre, Marie-Anne and Guillaume. The fleurs-de-lis symbolize France and Quebec. The book refers to documentary sources of history as well as the idea of intellectual discovery. Its blank pages symbolize the story yet to be written of future generations of Soucys.

Motto

Blazon

FIERS DE NOS SOURCES;

Symbolism

Meaning “Proud of our origins,” the motto emphasizes the Soucy pride in their French origins. It also refers to the fact that the name Soucy takes its etymological roots from the word “source”, as well as to the genealogist’s pride in finding unpublished sources to write a new page in the Soucy family history.
