Blazon

Per chevron Argent and Sable, in chief a Maltese cross and an amphora with handles of chain links Gules, in base a gavel Or entwined by a snake Vert;

Symbolism

The black and white colours are those of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, of which Dr. Terwiel has served as National Commissioner. This symbolism is reinforced by the Maltese Cross. The rod of Aesculapius indicates his medical profession, while the gavel attached at the top alludes to his past service as President of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. The amphora is taken from the arms of Vlissingen in the Netherlands, the city of his ancestors.

Crest

Blazon
