Symbolism

The two books recognize Mr. Echlin’s children and also refer to his writing and academic activities. The stag is taken from the arms for Mackenzie and honours Mrs. Echlin’s family. The lymphad is based on Irish Echlin arms. It is set with a Maltese cross as a reference to Mr. Echlin’s charitable works.

Issuant from a coronet rim the upper edge set with maple leaves Gules alternating with plates a demi talbot Or holding in its dexter paw a balance Sable;

Symbolism

The maple leaves in the coronet are for Canada. The white discs refer to Mr. Echlin’s award as “Man of the Year” at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The talbot is from the Irish Echlin arms. The scales symbolize Mr. Echlin’s professional involvement in the law.
