Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Ada Wynston is devoted to her community and particularly to Dutch-Canadians in her area. Since 1964, she has been an active member and two-term president of the Auxiliary Orthopaedic and Arthritic Hospital, fundraising and visiting patients. For many years, Ms. Wynston has hosted concerts for The Children's Wish Foundation, Chernobyl benefits and the Kiwanis Club, among others. She has also addressed many church and school audiences in the name of Holocaust education. As founder of the «Adopt a Veteran» foundation, Ms. Wynston raised the funds to send 55 World War II veterans to the Netherlands for celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of its liberation by the Canadian Forces.
