He is an expert in pollution control who has brought innovations to the public and private sectors. He designed the Air Pollution Index currently in use by the Government of Ontario. As head of Noranda's environmental services section, he developed audit systems, which became industry standards. He established strong ties among business leaders and environmentalists to address challenging issues. He has also influenced sustainable development practices both at home and abroad, working with many international organizations, including the United Nations.
