The first woman to be appointed a Judge of a Superior Court in Canada, she has worked unceasingly to promote the rights of women with respect to equal opportunity in education, training and pay. President and founder of the Fédération des Femmes du Québec in 1967, and a former vice-president of the Canadian Consumer Council, she was also a member of the Fondation Thérèse-Casgrain. She continues to provide active support to many social and cultural organizations.
