His appearance as a mad scientist belies his true identity as a master teacher whose enthusiasm has motivated both children and teachers to reason and think. As the zany Dr. Zed of Owl and Chickadee magazines and in hundreds of personal appearances, he has educated and delighted young people with the wonders of science. His concern for children of the world led him to donate the royalties for several of his intriguing water experiments to UNICEF.
