Breaking down the barriers between Canadians of different ethnic origins has been Mr. Taraska's life work. He has championed a liberal immigration policy; as a judge of Citizenship Court, he has admitted some forty thousand new Canadians; he has encouraged new citizens to contribute to the greater good of Canada and worked for his entire community as a Winnipeg school trustee, alderman and metropolitan councillor.
