Believing in the use of recreational activity as a means of developing an entire community, this former recreation director of the small mining town of Atikokan, Ontario, turned an abandoned ranger station into an education centre with a national reputation for excellence and innovation. The Quetico Centre's programmes have since expanded to include everything from skill training for adults to courses in regional and community development and seminar and conference services.
