Winner of Gold medals for the straight pair and eight rowing events in the 1991 World Championships and the 1992 Olympic Games alike, Ms. McBean also won Silver medals in the 1993 and 1994 World Championships. Her achievements in both the sweeping and sculling forms of rowing have demonstrated uncommon ability in reaching the highest levels of performance in a short time. In the face of declining financial resources, she has shown remarkable dedication to her sport by donating part of her earnings to enable the National Team to compete in the 1995 International Regatta. She continues to distinguish herself within her sport and to bring honour to Canada.
