Letters of Credence Ceremony

On behalf of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, the Honourable Suzanne Côté, Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada and Deputy of the Governor General, received the credentials of six new heads of mission during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.

During the ceremony, the following new heads of mission presented their credentials:

His Excellency Md. Jashim Uddin

High Commissioner for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh

Her Excellency Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh

High Commissioner for the Republic of Ghana

His Excellency Bachir Tawk

Ambassador of the Lebanese Republic

Her Excellency Lay Ling Ang

High Commissioner for Brunei Darussalam

Upon their arrival in Canada, new heads of mission must present their letters of credence to the governor general before they can carry out their duties. Letters of credence are the official documents that accredit a diplomat as an ambassador of or high commissioner for another country.
