The Governor General delivered opening remarks on the final day of the Canada-Inuit Nunangat -United Kingdom Arctic Research Programme (CINUK) conference. CINUK’s final annual conference was held at the Rogers Centre in Ottawa from December 4 to 6, 2024.
She also attended a presentation on one of the 13 projects funded by CINUK. The presentation outlined the research conducted on two emerging infectious diseases in the Arctic, which pose a threat to caribou and muskox populations, as well as to those handling or consuming their meat.
If we want to fully grasp the climate crisis, and if we want to develop sustainable solutions for future generations,
it’s crucial that Inuit knowledge strengthens western science.
