The Governor General attended the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp Auschwitz. The commemoration ceremony took place in front of the “Gate of Death” of the former Auschwitz II-Birkenau Camp and featured remarks by survivors and His Excellency Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland. Survivors and world leaders then paid tribute to the more than one million people, over 90 per cent of whom were Jews, who lost their lives at the camp during the Holocaust.
