The Governor General of Canada delivered remarks at the opening ceremony of the Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) at the Senate of Canada Building. On this occasion, the Speaker of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Commons also delivered remarks.

The conference provides speakers and presiding officers of national parliaments in the Commonwealth with a unique opportunity to gather together in a forum of their own to exchange information and express views on matters of common concern.
