An outstanding entrepreneur, philanthropist and volunteer, he founded an enterprise with a reputation for fair and progressive business practices. He offered equal opportunities to employees who were also included in the profit-sharing plan, which was one of the most lucrative ever set up in Canada. He is well-known for his generous financial contributions to the arts and culture in the Winnipeg area. In addition, he has spent a tremendous amount of time and energy serving on boards of directors for many artistic and cultural organizations, including the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and Héritage St-Norbert.
