OTTAWA—Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, invested the following Canadians into the Order of Canada during private investiture ceremonies in London, England, while attending Queen Elizabeth II’s State funeral. The private ceremonies were attended by members of the Canadian delegation to recognize each individual’s extraordinary contributions to Canada.
The Order of Canada is one of our country’s highest honours. Appointments are made for sustained achievement at three levels: Companion, Officer and Member. Officers and Members may be elevated within the Order in recognition of further achievements, based on continued exceptional or extraordinary service to Canada.

The Right Honourable Stephen Joseph Harper, P.C., C.C.

Stephen Harper was the 22nd prime minister of Canada. Uniting the centre-right political mosaic of the country, he co-founded the modern Conservative Party of Canada and became the longest-serving Conservative prime minister since Sir John A. Macdonald. Under his watch, Canada emerged from the global financial crisis faster than any other world-leading economy, with federal taxes at their lowest level in 50 years, a balanced budget, significant investments in health care and infrastructure, and an international free-trade network that reached Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. He remains a sought-after thought leader for conservatives around the world.
Mark Roger Tewksbury, C.C., M.S.M.

An athlete of great talent and drive, Mark Tewksbury is also a passionate agent for change. His gold-medal performance in the 100m backstroke at the 1992 Olympic Games resonated with audiences worldwide. In his post-competitive life, he is a tenacious advocate for clean sport and a staunch defender of the rights of athletes, members of the LGBTQ2 community, and people with intellectual disabilities. Canada’s first out Olympian, he has demonstrated great personal courage and generosity in sharing his story of self-acceptance, personal leadership and transformation through sport, inspiring many around the world.

Sandra Oh is a multi-talented actress and producer whose work has been internationally acclaimed by audiences and critics.
